First you must have a schedule for the baby everyday. Because when you have a timetable which you follow consistently then it will be easy to predict what is coming next. If you constantly follow the steps daily for each night the baby should be able to predict and will pick what follows what and know your cue for time to sleep.

There are times when you have to sway the baby and this should be consistent and gentle.

The baby should be able to pick a few rhythms to help her go to sleep. In case you need to use swaying to help the baby go to sleep it should be done gently because if it is fast the baby will get a signal that it is expected to play.

Lastly, if you don’t have your own schedule it is time to implement them. One good cue is time for taking a bath. Children pick schedules faster so if you start it by bathing followed by activities geared towards bedtime by the time you tell the child to go to sleep it will be easy.
